I’ve had it. I just want to leave this planet and its criminal stupidities.
For 50 years, science has predicted that Australia would become drier, with more drought, and greater danger and severity of wildfire.
It’s been happening exactly as predicted. The bad bushfire years are due to global climate fluctuations such as ENSO and the Indian Ocean Dipole. Since 1939, on the average, each of these has been worse than the ones before.
The tragedy now devastating my country, Australia, is a direct consequence of global inaction on climate change.
The first, natural and correct reaction to the tragedy has been millions of people waking up, and putting the blame where it belongs. But, “Business is business, and business must grow, regardless of crummies in tummies, you know!”
The suicide-bound dinosaurs are fighting back. The Murdoch press, right-wing radio stations, and conservative politicians have devised a ridiculous campaign: it has nothing to do with climate change (because there is no such thing) but it’s all the fault of the Greens.
That part is OK. It’s what one expects from climate criminals. What gives me despair is that there are people who believe it.

I have seen an angry petition to get rid of the Greens. I know nothing of the Greens over there – what are they actually supposed to have done – or not done ?
There was an expression going around many moons ago “stop the world I want to get off” It does seem that everywhere you turn bad things are happening. But then I read the many posts on my FB from really lovely, kind, thoughtful people and I think = We are not finished quite yet.

The Greens are supposed to have locked up large tracts of forest as nature reserves, and to have prevented fuel reduction burns.
In fact, nowhere in Australia have the Greens had any power to implement policy at any stage. Our proposals for nature reserves have sometimes been accepted and implemented by the party in power, because good reasons were found for them. Establishing a nature reserve does not exclude fire reduction work.
Fire reduction burns in the off season are actually explicit Greens policy.
In all the relevant states, as much fire reduction has been done as the drought and conditions have permitted. In New South Wales, which is so far the hardest hit, they actually did more than the minimum target. This has done nothing to reduce the disaster, because of the drought, extreme heat and strong winds — climate change.
While Victoria and South Australia have reasonably funded fire fighting services, the “Liberal” (conservative) government in NSW has been slashing relevant funding over the past several years. It’s to the point that the Rural Fire Service has been crowdfunding the purchase of good quality breathing masks because the government supplied ones are inadequate.
In April, 9 retired fire chiefs tried to have a meeting with the PM to warn about the coming fire season. He refused to meet with them, presumably because they mentioned the unmentionable “climate change.”
The blame the Greens nonsense is a coordinated campaign by the Murdoch press and their creatures. Wasn’t it Goebbels who said, any lie is believed if you shout it loud enough?

You are so right, Bob. The climate criminals have been at it for so long. It is incredible that many people still prefer clinging to hysterical conspiracy theories from Murdoch and the fossils.- even when they have the realities right in front of their noses.

I have seen the disinformation campaign myself at a United States conservative site Red State News. They had an article claiming that there were over 100 arsonists who were setting some of the fires in Australia.
So glad that you stand up for the truth,

I ran into a “bushfire liar/denier” today on Facebook. I can’t believe it! How can they deny the evidence right before their eyes? We are seeing climate change and temperature and moisture fluxuations way outside the “norm” in recent years across the globe, and they’re still denying climate change. It’s unbelievable. Cindy, thank you for validating my response. I find it beyond credence, but then research shows that this is how cognitive dissonance works. The stronger the evidence, the stronger the denial.
