As snow and ice melts on high mountains, the darker, exposed earth heats up. So, high places like the Rocky Mountains become heaters, and this is a positive feedback loop: the worse it is, the worse it gets. So, the Pacific Northwest is now hotter than places in the tropics. Rapid melt runoff from the high places is flooding people’s homes, under an all-too-clear sky.
The same is happening in places like Pakistan, but of course the news don’t bother with countries mostly inhabited by brown people. Their suffering is even worse, not that it’s a race.
Anyone who still thinks that climate change is just natural variation, please visit an alpine region and see for yourself.
