My recommendation: move inland, to higher ground

Scientists are not prophets, and don’t make predictions. Rather, they look at where current trends will take us, given certain assumptions. “If you do this, the probability of that will be x.”

This is very useful, and leads to practical recommendations.

A research report published 31st August, 2020 shows what will happen to sea levels if we do what we have been doing until now.

To summarise: it’s not a good idea to live near the sea. This is because sea level is rising at least at the rate forecast under the assumption of “do nothing about climate change.”

About Dr Bob Rich

I am a professional grandfather. My main motivation is to transform society to create a sustainable world in which my grandchildren and their grandchildren in perpetuity can have a life, and a life worth living. This means reversing environmental idiocy that's now threatening us with extinction, and replacing culture of greed and conflict with one of compassion and cooperation.

  1. Dr Bob Rich says:

Yes John. Most of the great cities will be destroyed. They are either on the seashore, or on rivers that will be backed up by higher sea level.
But it’s all right. Let me reassure you: when the students have burned down the school for souls that Earth is, we can continue in zillions of other schools in the universe.

  2. John Michael Klawitter says:

I read somewhere when the polar ice melts the sea level will go up 700 feet. Making Manhattan the new Venice.
