More on respectable bird brains

Animal intelligence is one of my hobby horses. Birds have proportionally tiny brains, but scientists keep finding species after species to achieve remarkable feats of intelligence. Here is a recent report about a parrot that can estimate probabilities.

Well, I don’t think an elephant or a dolphin would do well on an intelligence test devised by a spider!

    I got a red ink comment from a teacher once, many moons ago, for suggesting that some creatures were more intelligent than others. I was thinking ‘dogs, elephants and dolphins’, but I think the teacher thought I was being elitist!
